Facebook new layout and Twitter

Part of the new Facebook layout is that they have made it easier to write a quick “What’s on your mind” status update, on your Profile or on a friends.

Also, the update (dare I call it “Twitter”?) is limited to 160 characters, so us folks in S.A can look forward to having these pushed to our mobile phones when they expand that functionality outside of the U.K/U.S and Canada. (160 characters is the same amount of characters for a text / SMS message.)

So, it seems to me that Facebook have made “Twittering” an even more integral part of their new site. Status updates are really popular, and it’s interesting to see the huge uptake of this “micro blogging” style.
